Where the hack is Brunei, you might ask? You’re excused as he country is one of the smaller ones, hence exactly knowing where it is might not be everyone’s geography forte. So let us put our teacher’s voice on and tell you that Brunei is a tiny sultan state on the island of Borneo in South East Asia. Borneo itself is the third largest island on the planet and shares its land mass between three countries: Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei.
Well, well, well – what an eventful week this one was, huh? Without doubt Boston was the focus of this week’s general news coverage which had a massive spill-over into the transport section as well. But we wouldn’t be LateDeparture if we didn’t look beyond the obvious in this week’s airport news round-up.
It’s been a rather busy week in airport news-land: There was an award given out to the best airport of the world, a storm cancelled nearly 500 flights in a U.S. city and a VIP got stripped of their status at an African airport to name just three of the many stories we received this week.
We’re back from our little break and have quite a number of interesting stories from the past week or so. Three stories come from Europe and one from the Middle East. The U.S., normally dominant on airport related stories is absent in our review this week, which we think, is a welcome change. Nope, we haven’t forgotten about our dear readers, but we have to admit that we did get so busy, that last week’s airport update just didn’t quite happen – as you might have noticed. So this week, we’ll do a quick recap of what we’ve missed the week before and then go straight into the current week’s activities coming from the U.S., Bolivia and Sri Lanka.
This week turned out to be an “all American continent news week”. Sure, there were updates from outside this land mass, but none of those passed our curator’s strict criteria (apparently).

It’s been a massive week for airport related news. Unless you live under a rock, you probably heard of the airport heist in Belgium. However, aside from this biggie there were also other interesting news from airports in New Delhi, Hamburg, Calgary or Brisbane to name a few.
It’s been a big week for U.S. airports, with two headlines, one economically related and the other based on some severe weather. Singapore’s Changi airport as well as Heathrow in London got into the news too. So did Malaysia’s KL airport but we bet they’d rather not speak about it.
