Trapped airport worker takes flight on a Alaska Airlines flight from Seattle International Airport

This week: Felix was found, trapped Sea-Tac airport worker takes flight & more

The weeks just seem to fly by these days, don’t they? Here is our overview of airport related news headlines for this week:

We start and finish with pets this week. So first up, the good news you sure all have been waiting for: the cat that was reported lost at JFK last week (we wrote about it), was found! Yep, according to the Daily Mail Felix was discovered at JFK airport after being on the loose for more than two weeks. The owners of Felix wrote on their Facebook page: ‘we got word earlier this evening that a cat had been humanely trapped in the area the scent dogs in last week’s search were most interested in… And that cat is FELIX.’ — Well, how about that?

Next up was another slightly left-of-centre airport news article: On Tuesday ABC News reported that passengers aboard an Alaska Airlines flight Monday heard a curious banging noise onboard the plane as it took off from Seattle International Airport (SEA). Turns out the banging was coming from a Sea-Tac airport worker who fell asleep in the plane’s cargo hold, and didn’t wake up until the flight took off. “The captain immediately returned to Seattle, declaring an emergency for priority landing. The aircraft was in the air for 14 minutes,” the airline said. “After landing, the ramp agent was found inside the front cargo hold, which is pressurized and temperature controlled. The ramp agent appeared OK, and was transported to the hospital as a precaution. We are actively investigating the matter.” Didn’t we say that sleeping on the job was never a good idea?

We’re staying in the United States for our next story. On Friday ABC7 informed us that fog and adverse weather conditions have forced flights to be diverted, delayed and cancelled at Denver International Airport (DEN). According to the airport’s communication at least 40 flights were diverted and about 60 flights occured delays of 30 minutes or more.

And to finish off that other pet we promised you. We’re talking about a dog. A famous dog. Well, actually the owner of the dog is the famous one. Who? Lady Gaga. What’s this got to do with airports? Well, Lady Gaga and her pooch extravagantly walked through Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) this week making gossip headlines. But see for yourself in the coverage by the Daily Mail.

That’s all for this week – safe travels.
